Sir,

REOLIVED 787 1928

COL. OFFICE

FOREIGN OFFICE

S.W.1.

2nd October, 1928.

52

With reference to your letter No.52835/28 of the

23rd August last and previous correspondence regarding the

representations made by the United States Embassy on the

subject of alleged discrimination against United States

interests in Hong Kong, I am directed by Lord Cushendun to

enquire whether he may shortly expect to be furnished with

an expression of Mr. Secretary Amery's views on the points

raised in the letter from this department A 1752/1752/45 of

March 22nd last.

2.

It will be recalled that over six months have now

elapsed since the First Secretary to the United States

Embassy first raised this matter in the course of a

conversation on March 9th last, and it will be appreciated

that Lord Cushendun is therefore anxious that a reply should

be returned to Mr. Belin's enquiries as soon as possible.

I am,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

ReCije

The Under-Secretary of State,

Colonial Office.
